CV mistakes that get you rejected

Most candidates assume their CV gets rejected because they lack experience.
In reality, most CVs are rejected because they fail to communicate relevance.

Recruiters review hundreds of CVs. They are not searching for perfect profiles — they are searching for quick alignment with the role.

One of the biggest mistakes is writing a CV that tries to fit every job. A generic CV usually fits none. Recruiters expect to see alignment with the specific role, industry, and skills they are hiring for.

Another common issue is focusing on responsibilities instead of outcomes. Saying “Responsible for managing projects” says very little. Showing impact, results, or measurable outcomes immediately increases credibility.

Length is another silent issue. Longer CVs don’t signal experience — they signal lack of focus. Clear structure, strong headlines, and concise information matter more than volume.

Your CV is not a life story.
It’s a professional positioning document.

If your CV doesn’t clearly answer “Why you?” within seconds, it’s likely to be rejected — regardless of your background.

Does your CV sell relevance, or does it just list history?
